Some soulful, stimulating, pleasing lyrical poetry will be shared July 25th at the Harold Washington Culture Center, at 4701 S. King Dr. Let’s come together and enjoy the profound words as Chicago residents enjoy a night of Spoken Word Poetry. So bring your books of deep and intellectual poems to express on the stage as the audience experience feel your thoughts. Each Spoken Word Poet has a chance to elaborate their views about social justice or personal life situations by sharing the stage with the urban legends The Last Poets, the “Godfathers” of the Hip-Hop Music genre and the historic revolutionaries who spoke of the Black power movement. Critic Jason Ankeny wrote: “With their politically charged raps, taut rhythms, and dedication to raising African American consciousness, The Last Poets almost single-handedly laid the ground work for the emergence of Hip Hop.” The politically correct group, The Last Poets, will be in Chicago to reunite as they perform some of their most memorable recorded poetry. Stimulate your mind and enjoy The Last Poet's performance and local poets as they perform in an entertaining evening. The event will take place at the Harold Washington Culture Center located on the South Side of Chicago, 4701 S. King Dr. on July 25th. Showtime starts at 7pm, doors open at 6pm.
